Coaching Over-40 Clients, 2 of 3: Client Success

Last month we examined ageism realities in the current workplace-both the challenges and opportunities presented to the over-40 and baby boomer job candidate.

There are negative stereotypes out there. “Older workers know nothing about computers.” “Older workers are cultural misfits.” “Older workers don’t have enough stamina and brain power.” There are as many perceptions as the diversity of those making hiring decisions and the organizational cultures that exist in the workplace. My clients and I acknowledge this. And then we brainstorm and plan to meet them head on.

As career coaches, we can help our clients focus on-and find-opportunities. Here are 10 strategies that I frequently use to arm the over-40 worker to move forward in positive career exploration, design, and management.
